8:22am, free wifi, breakfast and a bottomless coffee cup… I sit here flipping through craiglist ads and trulia looking for the ideal housing situation to rebuild what I left behind 2 years ago when I left to Asia. This time, however, I promised myself I wouldn’t come back until I found a place BETTER than what we had before.
It’s been a week… the mansion that I originally thought was THE ONE didn’t end up as perfect as it appeared online. The house itself was great, but it was in a high end residence with a security guarded gated community with strict HOA’s. Not what I’m looking for. The last 7 days I’ve been looking all over town and still haven’t found it.
I won’t settle for anything less than perfect. Fantasy Mansion… I will find you!!
I’m back in Bangkok after vacationing in Hua Hin. My decision is between Bangkok and Vegas and since I’m having a little trouble finding the right place for the right price in Bangkok, I’m starting to lean more towards making Vegas my home for the next few years.
Here is the location of the house we are looking into. It’s very close to 2 major highways and Fremont street, the old strip. The main Las Vegas strip isn’t very far and easily accessible by a bus line very close to the house. This is one of the best locations you can have in Vegas excluding being directly on the strip- which I wouldn’t want because then you are always having problems with traffic. So, I’m loving this location personally.
A friend was kind enough to go by the Vegas mansion and take some pictures which I have included below along with the pictures from the original real estate post. This appears to be a 6 bedroom house with lots of space downstairs as well as some big open areas upstairs to create plenty of fun social environments in different parts of the house. Looks like we have 4 of us total wanting to move in as soon as soon it’s finalized and that’s with keeping everything on the down low.
Me, Ryan Parker, A new friend from Netherlands, and Allana McOsker from Las Vegas. Ryan and Allana are awesome people and the new friend from Netherlands seems pretty chill as most people I have met when I used to live near Amsterdam.
When I left Vegas exactly 2 years ago TODAY, I didn’t just leave behind a house, I left behind a dream, a vision that I had way before I ever set foot into the Seville house. It was to create an awesome place to live with other awesome people in an environment not just for wild parties, but for great social experience. Most people that were roommates of the Seville house agree that it was some of the best times of their lives, I know that I would say so myself, I really loved it there.
Now 2 years later after being a little busto trying to make it by playing baseball in Europe in the summers and living low budget in Thailand off of internet content work, I’ve finally got to where I want to be: making enough to live on and be free to do it from anywhere in the world. BUT WHERE? These are the ideas that keep coming up in drunken bar conversations, but what’s the most sober and logical … and most interesting… AND fun choice?
1.) Project Paradise
Find a big house on a beautiful beach… somewhere? I don’t know where but I would have to do a lot of research for this still. But the idea would be to lease an awesome house for 1-2 years on a fun beach that would be enjoyable year around. Have 5+ bedrooms, for 4+ awesome people and create the ultimate party/paradise environment possible.
Location is everything! Which beach or island? Thailand, South America, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia, or?
2.) Recreate a New & Better Seville House in Vegas.
Move back to Las Vegas and start a new Seville House in a better location, a much newer house and combine it with better amenities and an awesome environment.
3.) Start a new Seville House in a different City?
Okay, sure, it’s all about a big house with lots of cool roommates somewhere. I guess that’s where I’ve had the most fun, some of the best memories, and met some of the coolest and most interesting people.
Anyone, the world is huge and we only live once. Let me know if you have any ideas you’d like to share, I’m at a serious crossroads now trying to figure out what the next big project is.
My friend Nick Kho was in town for one day, some of you know him as “Papa” from Real Social Dynamics. Haven’t seen him in over a year so we caught up on a few things while hanging out at the Paragon mall in Siam center.
Nick travels a lot and because of this he usually gets sick VIP treatment at hotels. This hotel was no different ; free cocktails, wine, and appetizers in a special VIP lounge. Nick, his girlfriend and I spent the next few hours drinking mojitos, red wine, and discussing the beginning of the Mormon religion and how actually South Park described it.
The ending to the Mormon South Park Episode
If you haven’t seen the full episode, check it out, hilarious as always.
After the VIP lounge, I left to meet up with James, his girlfriend and some of her friends.
Pretty blurry picture, I’ve had my last 3 cameras lost or stolen unfortunately. Whoever took this picture forgot to use the flash?
We enjoyed a couple of towers of Tiger beer and then took a taxi to Khao san road. I was feeling pretty good considering I mixed a bunch of beer, wine and mojitos together.
a little clearer pic
Brick bar was better than what I expected to find from Khao San rd. Most of the time I find the tourist areas to be over priced and full of hookers. While its good if you are on a weekend trip, it’s something you are glad to avoid when you are a local. Brick bar wasn’t any of those things, it was tucked away and hidden behind a corridor making it only something the locals knew about. It was very loud, James and I were the only Farangs in the whole place but we got a table and chilled.
One thing about Thailand is the girl ratio of any where you go is always at an all-time high compared to other cities around the world. Unfortunately, my type is tailored more towards the tall young blonde variety and there wasn’t any available. Our group took down a few bottles of red label and was it for the night.
The rest the days have been spent working on fiverr gigs, playing SNGs on Pokerstars, building out 2 new websites I own, and writing articles for a couple of freelance jobs I recently took.
Before I wrap up this post, I wanted to give a shout out to Annie from Annie Sez clothing. You can save money on clothing by visiting Annie Sez Coupons. They are always posting new coupons so you can get discounts on Annie Sez clothing.
Mikel, a roommate from the Las Vegas Seville house, made it back to Thailand and we met up to pop bottles in the club. Russians love their vodka… and so do I!
We started out at Funky Villa, bottle service only 1,000 baht ($33). Smoking hot Thai girls everywhere! We were in the right place, but unfortunately we both ended up wasted beyond our control when we found ourselves at Mixx, an after hours club that taxis will give you a free ride to.
Long-story shortened…. we ended up just talking in drunken slurs to bust-o girls til 5am. I woke up with my shoes on and luckily didn’t have any coyote company.
Alcoholics like me need sponsors, so today’s post is sponsored by TheNowSystem.Net.If you would like to contribute to the beer fund by sponsoring one of my next posts, I will add your link to the bottom like this one above.
Joined a softball team last night and met a lot of guys from the league at Homerun bar who also sponsors the team I’ll be playing for. After having a lot of Heinekens and some good american style sliders, I went to Khao San Road for the first time. I wasn’t too impressed, but there were a lot of tourists and got to hang out with Tu, a new friend who actually is from Vegas too and Elena, a girl I just met from Russia
As I sit and ponder about the past I smile as I remember these 5 friends and the good times we had together.
Rachel Anderson, Jacob Cassidy, Ashley Hoppe, Edward Ellson, Kelsey Thompson
Rachel Anderson
I met Rachel for the first time at a Halloween Party I was throwing at my house in 2009. She was wearing some kinda of female Jason looking costume. She probably accounted for 50% of my lifetime text conversations over the next year. She was working a dreadful early AM shift as a nurse at a clinic near my house and I have insomnia so we would usually be the only ones awake at that time.
We went on to be good friends, from countless parties, her mom’s enchaladas, the crazy secret mansion party and the night she came over with her mom and got so wasted I had to carrying her over my shoulder and drop her in passenger seat of the car. Thanks for not puking on me! Miss you Rachel!! Go Lakers! cough cough
Jacob Cassidy
I first met Jacob when he came by the Seville House in response to a roommate ad. We had 1 spot open in our 9 bedroom house and had to pick someone within the next week. Jacob’s first impression wasn’t great, he was really sick when he came over, didn’t seem to be in a good mood and we ended up picking someone else to move in.
Little did we know, Jacob was a great dude. Over the next couple of months Jacob partied with us everywhere and we got to know him much better and he took the next room that opened up. Jacob was a great roommate and is still a good friend. I learned a lot about wordpress from him, which has helped me make my blog what it is today.
Lol, I remember a website idea we were trying to make. It was called VegasInsider.com. We took hidden cameras and microphones into clubs and would talk to women and film it in an attempt to show what to do and most of the time, what “not to do” when approaching women in bars. I wish you all of the best Jacob and hopefully we’ll get to catch up soon!
Jacob has a few websites of his own. www.JacobCassidy.com where you can find links to his Web Design site and his Professional Massage page.
Ashley Hoppe
I also met Ashley for the first time as she came to the Rockin Seville House in response to a roommate ad. We had the ultimate party house and I’ve made so many good friends because of it. Although Ashley never been a roommate, it felt like she was part of the house. She came over all the time for our poker tournaments and kicked my ass in beer pong. ”Sometimes?”.
Well, enough of the time that when I was given a sponsorship to play in the 2010 World Series of Beer Pong I asked her to be my partner. We completely dominated! .. 3 of the 10 teams we played at least. It was good times! My beer pong skills may not be as sharp since spending the last year overseas but my beer drinking skills are as good as ever, I’m ready for a rematch!
Eddie Ellson
Eddie was one of the original roommates when the Rockin Seville House was getting started. Probably the loudest mouthed one we’ve had, and that’s saying a lot with all of the characters we had. He loved to party and loved to meet girls on the internet. So we already had a lot in common before we realized just how much we both loved the Atlanta Braves! Still in pain right now from their playoffs eliminate last week. So Sick!
Eddie was a good guy and always tried to give value when he could, like the tiki torches and party decorations he would get for the house. You’re always welcome back if I end up starting another party house, bounty hunters or not, I know the real you now. The last time I remember seeing you was when my sister Chelsea was visiting and you went into the water foundation on Las Vegas BLVD and slipped when you were getting out. You were pretty wasted, crazy story I remember you telling me afterwards though…. something you waking up naked in a hotel room and a girl robbing you of everything after she drug you?
Kelsey Thompson
I met Kelsey in January 2009 through a mutual friend, Brooke. They were visiting Vegas and crashed at my place. Kelsey soon moved to Vegas and we became good friends. What I want to know is if her friend’s baby is from one of my friend’s list above. Wont’ say names, but I always wonder what the truth behind that was…
